The purpose of QuiltFest, Inc. is to preserve the heritage of quilting, to be a source of information and inspiration, to perpetuate a high quality of excellence in quilting and related arts, and to coordinate an annual exhibition of this art form. |
|
Around 500 quilts from all over the United States are entered, judged and displayed for the public to view during the 3 days of the show. Cash prizes total almost $8,000. In addition to looking at beautiful quilts, visitors can shop for quilting supplies at over 60 vendor booths or buy a ready-made quilt at the Quilt Sale Table. Demonstrations on quilting techniques are held throughout the day as well as classes by nationally known teachers. Visitors can purchase tickets for a chance to take home one of 7 exquisite quilts or a basket full of quilting goodies. They can also bid on a miniature quilt at the Silent Auction. A Food Court with several stations is open throughout the day. For those who would like to sit and sew for a while, there are comfort quilts to be pieced and Me Dolls to be stuffed. Quilting is not just for old ladies either. There’s a Kids’ Corner where kids can make a quilt block and a Young Quiltmakers category in the quilt show. |

The QuiltFest Board is made up of 4 representatives from each of the 7 sister guilds. We meet monthly year-round to plan the annual quilt show held at the Prime Osborn Convention Center in Jacksonville, Florida the last weekend of September. We also participate in activities in the Jacksonville area that promote quilting and the quilt show. |
|
Profits from the Silent Auction at QuiltFest go to the local Shriner's Transportation Fund to aid in transporting children in our area for medical care and treatment. Me Dolls are delivered to the Shriner's Hospital for children in Tampa. Community services quilts are given to Jacksonville area shelters for abused women and children. Proceeds from Quilters Walk go to the QuiltFest Educational Grant which is distributed to the Seven Sister Guilds to support continuing quilting education.
The Seven Sister Guilds individually support a variety of charities including food banks, Quilts of Valor for service men and women, Linus, and Hospice. |

Those who lit our lives with their creativity and love of quilting are never truly gone. Their spirit and inspiration will remain with us always.
